The School Resource Officer (SRO) is a police officer assigned to the Detective Division who acts as the liaison between the Police Department and the Board of Education, School Administration, faculty and its students.

This officer coordinates all school programs. Programs include; the Officer Friendly program taught in kindergarten through third grades, and also instructs in the middle and high school to promote a better understanding of the police role in the community and education on laws, drug awareness, and the dangers of alcohol abuse.

The SRO investigates all criminal complaints and enforces all laws at the schools and within 1500 ft. of school property.

Currently, Officer Rich Ross is assigned as the SRO and has held that position since spring of 2005. Officer Ross has been with the Wilton Police Department since March 1999.
