The Wilton Police Department is accepting private donations from residents and businesses to support the K-9 program. The program now consists of a single German Shepherd, named K-9 Baso (Bah-so) that has been specifically bred and trained for police work.  K-9 Baso is a young GSD that fit perfect into the needs of the Town of Wilton and the Wilton Police Department.  K-9 Baso and Officer Patenaude completed a 12 week training evolution that consisted of the following elements, to ensure they are fully prepared for all calls:

  • Bonding Phase
  • Scent Imprinting
  • Human Tracking
  • Narcotic Detection
  • Criminal Apprehension
  • Officer Safety

Prior to joining the Wilton Police Department Officer Patenaude was trained as a Multipurpose Canine handler for the Special Operations Community, through the United States Marine Corps.  K-9 Baso and Officer Patenaude will be available to serve the Town at a moments’ notice.

Private donations will help the Wilton Police Department defray the costs of the program. Tax deductible donations may be made in the form of check made payable to:

“Town of Wilton K-9 Unit”
and sent to the Wilton Police Department at
240 Danbury Rd, Wilton CT, 06897.
